The TikTok-Approved Hair Oil: Mielle's Rosemary Mint Strengthening Oil

Updated: May 16, 2023

itsthefarah is great at many things but one thing she is not great at is having long, voluminous hair that makes all the jaws drop. I had incredibly thin straight hair. So I turned to the endless pages of Amazon.com in search of a miracle product and lo and behold, I discovered Mielle's Rosemary Mint Strengthening Oil.

After seeing so many reviews from Amazon to TikTok (especially), I decided to try the #rosemaryoil a try.

Let's first talk about its packaging.

The bottle comes in a lovely shade of green, complete with a shiny illustration of a rosemary plant that adds a touch of luxury to the design. Its compact size, approximately that of my palm, makes it easy to bring along while traveling, and its easy-to-use dropper is a feature familiar to everyone.

Texture & Smell:

Mielle's Rosemary Mint Strengthening Oil

Despite being an oil, it has a clear and almost watery consistency that is lightweight on the hair. Upon opening the bottle, the scent of rosemary is so strong yet delightful, hitting the senses just right. However, it's important to note that while some may love the herbal fragrance, it may be not be the case for someone else.

Finally, its usage:

To use the oil, it's recommended to tie or clip your hair into sections to expose your scalp. While some might prefer to apply the oil directly to the scalp, I prefer to dispense it onto my hand first to avoid introducing bacteria to the dropper. Although it may just be my preference, I find that it's always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to maintaining the product.

Ingredients Overview:

What can it do?

Mielle's Rosemary Mint Strengthening Oil is a popular hair care product that offers a range of benefits for your hair and scalp. The oil promotes hair growth by improving blood circulation to the scalp and stimulating hair follicles. It also contains anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that can help prevent hair loss, improve dandruff control and limits premature graying. In addition, it can reduce split ends and enhance the shine of your hair.

What's the catch?

It is important to note that rosemary oil can be an irritant and should be used in moderation. Using too much may make thin hair appear greasy and feel weighted down, so it's essential to find the right amount that works for your hair type. Rosemary oil is not recommended to be used if you're pregnant or breastfeeding. Additionally, the results are not fast enough which led some people prefer to use castor oil as an alternative to rosemary oil.

As it is a concentrated product, it is strongly recommended to dilute it with a couple drops of a carrier oil - jojoba/coconut/olive oil.

Did my hair magically grow overnight? I wish it did but no, it didn't. However, with consistent use, I did begin to notice small yet visible results after six months. Living in a humid climate, I find that using the oil once a week, while diluting it with jojoba oil, for at least 30 minutes before showering helps to nourish and absorb the contents into my scalp, leaving it feeling soft and smooth when showering. If you're living in a colder climate, it may be more beneficial to use it twice a week. In the end, it is your preference on how many times you'd like to use it as it is more important to see what works best for your hair.

To boost its use, I like to pair it with other volumising hair products (that I may blog about later) to ensure my hair looking full, shiny and ever-growing. It may take time to see results, but with a little patience and regular use, the benefits of Mielle's Rosemary Mint Strengthening Oil will be well worth it.
